The brainchild of digital artist Jonathan Sears, Langur Media represents the embodiment of "true creativity" as it's applied within the world of visual design. More of a freelancing entity of like-minds than a "design firm," LM enjoys taking on projects and linking with others to reach common goals and innovative ways of communication.

Armed with undergrad & graduate-level degrees in fine-arts, LM has a strong foundation that intertwines graphic design, darkroom photography and digital animation. And through utilizing these skill-sets, the goal of Langur Media remains to apply years of patiently-aquired, in-field-knowledge to aide clients -- whether individual, agency, or collective -- in finding ways to reach desired audiences ...being sure to do so through refined levels of expression.

With the continued progression of the internet, creativity and the access to it has without doubt grown immensely! And as creatives this should be celebrated! But through this very portal, an overwhelming amount of "borrowing" and an overall lack-luster pursuit of originality has quietly enveloped our society. Examples of this growing trend in development reside in things like "glossy" buttons, endless swoops, and an enamoring amount of white-space ...and, of course, the "flawless" control of IT. ORIGINALITY has become an afterthought in much of the design world. Langur Media is here to help.

Circa 2006: While teaching 300-level package design at the University of Maryland (College Park), the idea of starting and basing a design group based on the exploration and concept of "true creativity" developed.

Then, at age 25, through the realization of how theft of ideas had become commonplace -- as long as the words "borrow" or "appropriate" were thrown in the mix -- Langur Media founder, Jonathan Sears began to understand it was a further development in thought process, versus a change in particular skill-sets, that was more heavily needed within the ever-changing design world. And since his introduction to design was early (getting his start working at sign shops in the late 90s), he figured why not try to help the conversation through the sharing of continued research and personal, in-field, experience.

With this realization and more research into how many "borrowers" there really are out there, he deemed himself an "endangered creative" and began honing a process and way of thought that could not only communicate new depths of originality to students, but also lend a new way of thought to the minds of potential clients. Soon after, communicating what he considered "important" ideas and concepts became just as important as landing the actual jobs that would allow him to do so.

Centrally based in the midwest, Langur Media's primary goal is to continue to assist and help influence local Cincinnati design. Beyond that, LM hopes to continue branching out, spreading ideas, joy and solid design around the country ...if not world-wide.

To date, Langur Media has taken on projects in California, Maryland, Nebraska, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and across a bit of water in The U.S. Virgin Islands.

Hard work and diversification:

We must continue to strive for that inner greatness ...because most of us have yet to realize the limits of our potential.
